LEED Certification

For Immediate Release. The introductory course presents the LEED core concepts of sustainable design. Topics include an overview of the current initiatives and practices used to economically and successfully implement sustainable strategies in the design: construction and development of commercial and residential properties; government initiatives and guidelines; third part certifies; financial incentives; project consultants; life cycle costs and analysis; sites; water; energy demand and efficiency; material reuse; indoor environmental quality; waste management; building commissioning; building operation and management. We provide all the educational and study tools necessary to pass the prerequisite exam.
Those who complete the seminar will receive a Certificate of Eligibility that enables them to take the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate accreditation examination, offered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). This accreditation was created specifically for professionals who wish to demonstrate green building expertise in non-technical fields of practice. The Green Associate is a prerequisite toward the LEED AP status. This seminar will be beneficial for A/E/C professionals - including architects, interior designers, project managers, engineers, real estate professionals, contractors, building managers, and marketing folks.

Pratt Center for Continuing and Professional Studies, in affiliation with Forever Green Training & Sustainable DesignTM, will offer several one-two or three day seminars for the LEED® Green Associate and Green Building Design and Construction accreditations (BD+C). These eight-hour courses will be given from September - December 2010 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at 144 West 14th Street Room 209 in Manhattan.

Those who complete the seminar will receive a certificate of eligibility that enables them to take the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Green Associate accreditation examination, offered by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). This accreditation was created specifically for professionals who wish to demonstrate green building expertise in non-technical fields of practice.
In addition, attendees will earn up to 17 continuing education units (CEUs).
This seminar will be beneficial for A/E/C professionals – including architects, interior designers, project managers, engineers and marketing folks – who already have basic knowledge of green design, construction, and operation.

Irene Santoro, LEED-AP, founder and president of Excel Design & Construction Inc., Charles Anthony Interiors, LLC. and Forever Green Training & Sustainable Design (the latter two are USGBC members), will be the instructor for the seminars. Ms. Santoro has 20+ years of design and construction experience. She is currently redesigning her own beachfront home in Beach Haven New Jersey to meet the standards for LEED®-certification.
Ms. Santoro has written several preparatory books that coordinate with the LEED® reference guides. These books include: The Green Building Design & Construction V3, Green Associate Plus and The Green Real Estate Guide to LEED® Certified Building & Sustainable Design.
